Path of Stones, Wood of Thorns,
Roaming in the forest in the back of the X-mansion, Wolverine feels the other X-Men are overreacting about Sabretooth and how he hurt him. Wolverine tries to clear his mind and tracks and follows from afar two kids, Richard and Jane Higgins, the kids mention that their mother has a lot of accidents, so they picked some flowers for her. Back at the X-mansion, Storm, Beast, and Professor X are having a conversation about how Logan's behavior is becoming more primordial and violent, and they believe that Logan's reason for wanting to stay outside was his fear of hurting them if he lost control of his inner fury. At boat house, Cyclops, Jean Grey and Psylocke prepare for dinner. Wolverine sneaks up and watches them through the windows from outside. Psylocke senses Logan's dark raging thoughts and gets worried and tells Jean to use her power to read his thoughts. Jean tells Psylocke that Wolverine is entitled to his privacy. Cyclops tells them that he hurt Sabretooth and he could hurt one of them next. Jean tells them that Wolverines heart hasn't changed. Outside the boat house, Wolverine howls in frustration, then runs through the forest, allowing his beastly side to take over, he unleashes his claws and rips, and tears up the surrounding trees. X-Mansion in the med-center, Professor X looks over Wolverine's medical records, then contacts James and Heather Hudson. They all come to the conclusion that Wolverine's original mutation was supposed to regress him to an animal like state, but when he was bonded with adamantium his mutation went into remission. Now that Magneto pulled Wolverine's adamantium out his regression has resumed. Beast, Storm and Professor X go outside to tell Wolverine. Meanwhile, at the Higgins's house, Wolverine watches Linda, the children's mother, she was going to call the cops on her husband, who beat her. Mr. Higgins walks in, sees the phone and tries to take it away. Linda struggle away and runs outside. Outside Beast, Storm and professor X find Wolverine and are about to talk to him, when Linda screams for help. Wolverine sees the Mr. Higgins coming and grabs him, throws him to the ground, then unleashes his claws. Mr. Higgins screams in fear, Beast holds Wolverine back, then Linda punches Wolverine and tells him not to hurt her husband. Linda and her husband walk back to their house. Professor X tells Wolverine its time to go home, Wolverine tells him that he is home and that he’s not going to run away anymore. The X-Men tell him that they want to help. Wolverine stops just before disappearing into the forest and tells them that they should have not stopped him from killing Mr. Higgins, because one day he is going to hit Linda just a little to hard and the kids won't have a mother anymore.
