In Low town Madripoor Wharf side, Patch is called by Mr. Morrow. Patch owes Mr. Morrow a favor and Mr. Morrow wants to cash it in. Mr. Morrow and his gang are going to fight Piggot and his gang to see who will control Wharf side. r. Morrow wants Patch to protect his son, Gabriel. Patch tells Morrow that he isn't a babysitter, Morrow tells Patch that Gabriel has attendants, Polly and Rebecca that will take care of Gabriel. Morrow tells Patch that his job is to make sure none of Piggot's men try to kill Gabriel. Morrow leaves with his gang.

Later that same night, Gabriel can't sleep, and asks for Patch to tell him a bedtime story. Patch tells Gabriel a story, about a young boy in Canada. The Boy was cast out by his people for being small and weak. The boy encounters a pack of wolverines. The boy expected them to kill him, but instead they became friends, and adopted the boy as one of their own. The boy got older and learned ways to help the wolverines. The boy would help the wolverine if the got caught in a hunters trap. The hunters were mad that somebody was getting the wolverine out of the traps. The Hunters hunted down and caught the boy, but the wolverines weren't going to let them take the boy. The wolverines attack, but the hunters start shooting them. The boy gets mad and breaks out and kills the hunters. The boy and the wolverines were a family again.

Patch ends the story because he hears someone. Patch tells Gabriel to stay in the room. He tells Gabriel's servants, Polly and Rebecca to stay in their room. Patch finds and kills Piggot's man. Patch hears Gabriel scream and runs to the room. Piggot's men are trying to kidnap Gabriel. Patch kills both men. Morrow returns home, with Piggot's men on his tail. Patch joins in the fight. Patch is taking out Piggot's men when 6 team up on him. Morrow was about to be killed by Piggot. Gabriel pushes a dining cart into Piggot, knocking him to the ground. Patch gets the 6 men off him. One of Piggot's men tries to grab Gabriel, but Patch kills him. Piggot and his men retreat. The fight ends, the police come, take statements, and makes no arrests. Patch leaves thinking that he doesn’t care who is in charge of Wharf side, but when Gabriel grows up he wants him in charge.
