| Marvel Director's Cut 1/2 sketch cover Variant by Micheal Turner Born in Blood: Part 1, Wolverine practices with the Muramasa Blade and decides to take revenge on those that have manipulated his life. SHIELD Command Center, Agent Dugan talks to a secretary of the White House. The Secretary demands to know what is going on with Wolverine. Agent Dugan tells her that they have disclosed all information to the president . The Secretary tells Dugan that he must not realize that situation he is in. Dugan replies that he knows full well that they chose him to take care of the Wolverine situation so they could blame him later when they fail to stop Wolverine. The secretary tells Dugan that she could get him out of this mess if he fully discloses to her, but the commutation line is cut. Alarms go off, an agent enters and tells Dugan that all communications with the White House are offline. Under White House, Wolverine walks through the sewers away from a bunch of cut wires. White House, Secret Service pull the President from his Oval Office and down the hall. The Secretary comes out to the hall to see what going on and is shoved aside by Secret Service. The Secretary finds herself alone in the White House. SHIELD Command Center, Dugan get reports from fellow agents that two SHIELD field squads are moving to the White House, Secret Service is taking the President to the secondary extraction point, since the route to the first was impassable. Another Agent tells Dugan that their planes are flying blind and are having comm failures too. And that Norad has detected an incoming cruise missile heading for the White House and is flying through their defenses. Dugan ask how close it is, the Agent replies that the missile launched from Chesapeake Bay and it just hit the White House. Dugan throws his comm headset off. Agents look down in grief knowing that they failed to protect the president, but then an agent tells Dugan that the missile had negative impact and didn’t detonate. They cheer, but Dugan tells them to shut up and thinks to himself and then says that the president was not the target, its someone else, the missile was a decoy or there could be other players they don’t know about. White House, the cruise missile opens a hatch and a Shiva terminator robot steps out. Inside Wolverine demands that the Secretary tell him who she is working for. She answers that she works for the president, but Wolverine throws her into a wall and ask who she is really working for. She says that she isn’t helpless and they knew this was coming, suddenly a Shiva robot tears through the wall. The Secretary ask what took him so long and ask for it to kill Wolverine, but it targets her and burns her up in a flame blast. Wolverine unleashes his blade, dodges Shiva’s punch and slices his blade through the torso of the Shiva. Wolverine steps back and motions for Shiva to follow, but as it takes a step it splits into two and falls to the ground. Wolverine spits on its head. The enters a bedroom and finds a secret door that leads to a passage way and escapes. SHIELD Command Center, Dugan talks to a 4 star General, the General tells Dugan that Wolverine is making a joke of SHIELD and they need to protect themselves, so now it is everyman for themselves. US Embassy, Santiago, Chile, Secret Service enter a Elevator and use a special key and go to a sub basement, where they have technicians wake Nuke.
