Doggie Diner in New York, Logan sits reading while enjoying a cup of coffee. A waitress by the name of Lucy Braddock finishes up her shift when she is hit on by a customer.

Later that night, the customer throws some cash at Lucy as he leaves her apartment, Lucy gets so mad she runs to the door and throws the cash back at him as he leaves down the staircase. Logan hears the commotion in the hallway and open his door to see what is going on. Lucy turns to his door and yells “you got something to say or you hoping for an eyeful too”. Logan shuts his door.

The next morning at the Doggie Diner, Logan sits reading his book while Lucy keeps his coffee hot. Lucy wasn’t sure about Logan, who acted like he didn’t care for Lucy but showed he did in the smallest ways.

Later that night, Lucy is writing in her journal, when she hears a commotion in the hallway, she peeks out her door and sees Logan staggering to his door all beat up with a knife in his leg. Logan pulls the knife out turns and ask Lucy if she has something to say or was she just hoping to get an eyeful. Lucy quickly shuts her door.

The next night at Doggie Diner, Lucy sees Logan reading his book with out a scratch on him, she realizes that Logan is the guy she has been looking for, she tries to think of a way to talk to him, but can’t. Logan leaves the diner, but leaves one of his books behind. Lucy sees it as his way to make it easy for her to talk to him.

Later that night, Lucy tries to approach Logan as he comes home but he pretends not to notice her as he enters his apartment. She walks over and knocks at his door, Logan answers the door, she tries to tell him he left his book at the diner, but he walks back into his apartment, she follows him and introduces herself and tells Logan that even though they haven’t meet she knows his name, or she made one up for him. Logan ask what it is. She reveals that she calls him “Mean Man”. Logan tells her that it sounds judgmental, she agrees. She sees that Logan likes to read and ask to borrow some books. Logan lets her and ask if she likes to read, but she tells him that she mostly writes and if he is able to find her writing he could read it. Lucy returns to her apartment and cuts the center out of Logan’s book out and hides her Journal in it. Suddenly two men armed with machine guns, kick in Lucy’s door and shoot her to death. Logan begins to open his door, when the two men open fire on him and escape. Logan crawls out of his room and across the hall to find Lucy dead.

The next day after the police investigators leave, Logan enters Lucy’s apartment and finds his book and in it Lucy’s journal. Logan reads and finds out that Lucy was actually on the run from a gang of child kidnappers called the Brothers, she tells Logan that he is the perfect one to go after them because of his fast healing and because the cops wont do anything about it. Lucy ask that even if Logan does nothing more, please do one thing, don’t forget her.
