South China Sea, Wolverine gets flown in in a helicopter to a small remote tropical island. Wolverine wonders why someone would kidnap Amiko, just to get him to go meet them. Wolverine tells the pilot to pick him up in the morning, then jumps out of the helicopter and free falls to the island below. Wolverine pulls the parachute and observes that there is not any guards on patrol around the complex. Wolverine does encounter a Raptor and quickly kills it and makes his way to the complex. Wolverine thinks to himself that nothing will keep him from saving Amiko.

Inside the complex, Wolverine heads down the main hallway when he smells Amiko scent and heads down into a room with many cells. Wolverine calls to Amiko, Amiko is surprised to see him. Suddenly a poisoned dart pierces Wolverine neck and he collapses, Amiko tries to help Wolverine, but his body is paralyzed. A man comes out of the shadows and introduces himself as Zaran, hunter, trapper and master of weaponry. Wolverine healing factor fights the poison and he slowly gets up. Wolverine threatens to kill Zaran, but Zaran's ninjas threaten to kill Amiko if he doesn’t listen to Zaran's terms. Zaran explains that he was once had a perfect record in killing, he was feared, but then he lost a fight and he lost his reputation. Zaran tells Wolverine that Wolverine has a great reputation and the only way to prove Zaran is still the best, they must fight to the death. Zaran says he invited a crime lord from the far East to watch the outcome on closed circuit television. If Wolverine wins, Zaran says that Amiko and Wolverine can leave safely with the antidote to the poison he shot into Wolverine. Wolverine agrees to the game.

Outside the complex in the forest, Wolverine realizes that his senses are not working because of the poison in his system and his healing factor is using all its power to fight it. Suddenly an arrow hits Wolverine in the arm, Wolverine pulls it out and runs off to hid, Wolverine decides to rely on his instincts. Wolverine watches as Zaran walks beneath him un a where of his presents. Wolverine leaps out of the tree and slashes Zaran's bow in half, Zaran pulls a knife and they attack each other, Wolverine slashes Zaran, but Zaran stabs Wolverine in the gut with the knife, then Zaran runs off. Wolverine pulls the knife out of his side and notices Zaran's blood on the ground. Wolverine follows the blood trail, but his instincts tell him its a trap and he turns in time to see Zaran behind him with a spear. Wolverine slashes the spear to pieces. Zaran pulls out two knifes and they attack each other, but Wolverine gains the upper hand and stabs Zaran in the gut. Zaran fall to the ground. Wolverine yells out that everyone can stop hiding now, a bunch of ninjas hop out and the crime lord, Shinji Kizaki approaches Wolverine and tells him that Zaran did not fight with honor, but Wolverine did, dives Wolverine the antidote. Wolverine throws the antidote to the ground and says that his healing factor will heal him, then demands that he get Amiko. They give him Amiko back and Wolverine is about to leave, when Shinji Kizaki tells Wolverine that he is too much of a threat to live and orders his ninjas to kill Wolverine. The ninjas shot arrows at Amiko and Wolverine, Wolverine blocks the arrows with his body so Amiko doesn’t get hurt and carries her to a hiding spot. Wolverine realizes that his healing factor was still fighting the poison, but manages to catch the ninjas off guard and kills them all. Wolverine heads back and is about to kill Shinji Kizaki, when Amiko tells Wolverine that Wolverine is a honorable samurai and Shinji Kizaki is old and defeated, so he doesn’t have to kill him. Shinji Kizaki bows to Wolverine and tells him that Wolverine's family is safe from retribution. Wolverine and Amiko leave in the helicopter. Zaran gets up and is about to shot the helicopter, but Shinji Kizaki stops him and tells him that they will find Wolverine's strengths, weakness and motivations and that is when they will attack again.
