The Light at the End of the Day,

East Village, Lower Manhattan, Logan sees two bullies picking on a girl, Kristen and her handicapped friend, Clive. Logan parks his Harley and tells the one bully named Drang to back off. Drang laughs in Logan's face, so Logan grabs his tongue with his hand, then tells the other bully Strum if he wants to fight too. Strum tells Logan that he leaving, then Logan kick Drang to the street and they run off. Kristen thanks Logan for protecting them and sees the bag on the back of his Harley and ask if he was looking for a place to stay. Logan tells her that he was, Kristen tells Logan that she is a super at a apartment complex and offers him a a apartment. Logan follows them back to the complex.

Meanwhile, a local street entertainer, the mime was riding down the street on a unicycle, juggling Indian clubs. As he rides past an open basement door, a chain shot out and grabbed one of his clubs. The mime was very impressed with the trick and asked into the dark basement how the person had managed to do that. A voice in the basement offers to teach him if he would just come down to the basement. The mime carefully walks down into the basement, only to find an evil presence, which possesses him.

The next day, Logan makes a call to the X-Mansion. Jean answers the phone and ask where he is staying. Logan tells where he is and tells her that he has to prove to himself that he can live in the world. Logan has an average day in the city and then that night he works out till he is exhausted, then he looks out the window and sees the mime on his unicycle juggling knives down the street.

The next morning, Logan goes downstairs in the cafe, Logan sees Kirsten working as a waitress there. Kristen tells Logan that their was job available at a construction site. Logan goes down and sees the forewoman, Helen Bach. Helen tells Logan that their wasn't much work to be sought there. Logan offers to work for free, catching her by surprise. After the other workers there agreed, she allows him to work there for free.

Much later, Logan and Helen walk home while having a conversation, they encounter Drang and Strum beating on Logan's old Harley. Logan goes to beat them up, but Helen pulls him back, then Drang punches Logan in the face. Helen kicks him in the nuts and steps on his head. Strum pulls a gun to Helen's head, Logan extended his claws, but at the very last moment retracts them, knocking Strung out with a good punch. Logan remembers that he is not an animal and doesn't have to always use his claws. Logan ask where Helen learned to fight, but she tells Logan that she doesn’t want to talk about it and walks off. Logan decides to put his Harley in the apartment and encounters the Mime. The Mime tells Logan that he has been waiting for him.
