The X-Men (Iceman, Cyclops, Jean Grey, Cannonball, and Wolverine) battle against Ozymandias, an ancient record-keeper to Apocalypse. Ozymandias throws Cyclops into the spiral abyss. Jean Grey is mentally keeping more stone statues from coming. The stone Wolverine breaks Iceman's ice bridge. Cannonball attacks a stone Magneto. Feral Wolverine jumps into the abyss and flies straight down, slowing catching up to Cyclops, who is using his optic blast as a retro-rocket to slow his fall. Stone Magneto hurls stones at the X-Men, Jean quickly blast him with psi-power. As Cyclops plummets down he hits a bolder, which was protruding from the abyss's wall, knocking him unconscious. Cyclops's flail body falls, Wolverine catches up and grabs hold of Cyclops. Wolverine quickly extends his claws. using them as brakes against the side of the wall, he stops their fall. Cyclops, in a daze notices that Ozymandias made a very detailed image of Professor X on it. This confuses Cyclops because Apocalypse hated Xavier ever since their first encounter. Cyclops passes of from his injuries again. Wolverine carries Cyclops and slowly climbs back up towards the other X-Men.

Meanwhile, Jean Grey, Iceman, and Cannonball fight the stone army. Jean Grey does a psi-scan, and was relieved that Cyclops was still alive. Jean Grey also sensed someone else hiding the shadows, who was able to shield herself from a psi-probe. Wolverine finally makes it back to the top, but can't leap across to get to the battle, while holding Cyclops. Iceman tries to make a ice bridge for Wolverine, but the stone Wolverine breaks it. Stone Magneto causes stone to fall on Jean Grey. elektra jumps out from the shadows and kicks stone Hurricane, and stone Gauntlet into the abyss, then goes back to hiding. Cannonball hits Ozymandias as Iceman freezes him. Wolverine protects Cyclops from stone shards that stab into Wolverines back. Cyclops wakes up and optic blast Ozymandias. Ozymandias causes the stone time record to disintegrate, then he starts to disintegrate to keep the records from the X-Men. Iceman makes a bridge to help get Wolverine and Cyclops off the stone time record. The X-Men decide to depart, but Cyclops was still confused on why the image of Professor X existed on that pillar. Wolverine sensed someone hiding in the shadows.
